A Tourist In My Hometown
Just what or where is your ‘Hometown”? How would you describe its outer limits?
I grew up in Lynwood CA which is roughly the geographic center of the greater Los Angeles area that includes all or part of four counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino. In my high school years, my hometown was really limited to Lynwood itself. But as soon as I and my friends started driving, we became familiar with other towns and my “hometown” kept expanding through the years. Within a 40 mile radius of my original hometown are over 50 cities. There are so many places, destinations really, that I’ve never seen, or perhaps I’ve been there once or twice and totally forgotten about it or just overlooked that destination.
We now live far down in the south east corner of our expanded hometown and it feels like my town has always included everything from San Clemente in the southeast to the northwest all the way up to Malibu.
What are the best travel destinations in 2023, or the best places to travel in 2023? Perhaps it’s on a cruise ship, an all-inclusive resort, Thailand, Hawaii? Or, maybe you need to consider your own hometown. Henry Miller, the novelist, once said that, for him, the “destination was never a place but a new way of seeing things.” Maybe you’ve lived in a place your whole life but never visited the prime attractions because “they’re for tourists.”
Well, it’s time to become a tourist in your own hometown with “a new way of seeing things.”
Please Contact Us and let us know if there is a destination that you think we should visit and we’ll try to make plans.
